JABEEN'S STORY

Recently, LPA embarked on a powerful photoshoot, aiming to spread cancer awareness among Muslim women. Whilst on set we crossed paths with Jabeen, a remarkable lifestyle model. Inspired by the shoot's powerful message, she took a crucial step and got herself checked up at the doctor by getting a mammogram. Unfortunately, the results revealed that she had the early signs of breast cancer. Since her diagnosis, Jabeen has had her operation and is thankfully recovering. She reached out to us to tell us her story and to prompt other women to get checked by their doctor.

Here’s what she had to say…

How did you find the experience of being a lifestyle model?

My experience on set was really fun to meet the crew and other models also to learn more about the new machine

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to be part of the campaign and learned more about breast cancer

How did it feel being on set compared to the actual screening?

I didn’t know what to expect but having done the screening I realised how easy and quick and efficient the process was…and I asked myself why didn’t I get it done sooner? Why did I leave it so long …

What made you get the screening?

I did my shoot that prompted me to consider doing a routine check as it was on my mind wondering why have not done it …

How you felt when they told you the heartbreaking news?

I was devastated broken and lost myself in negative feelings and thoughts

How you feel now whilst recovering?

I’m now positive and accepting that I was the lucky 🍀 ones who can be treated as they caught it early on stage 2..

I’ve had 2 surgeries and they have been successful and I won’t let cancer consume me it’s made me stronger and give me more opportunities to things I’ve always wanted to do in life

I have learned not to take like for granted….

Let her journey reminds us all, especially women, to prioritise our health and well-being.
