To celebrate the final instalment of the Star Wars films, The British Journal of Photography partnered with Lucasfilm to capture different families across the world whose lives have been shaped by the Star Wars saga.
LPA Futures winner Josh Adam Jones was commissioned, alongside 9 other photographers, to capture images of certain families, each with their own individual Star Wars story, but all with the same passion. Captured across 10 different countries, and 5 different continents, Josh’s models, the Janssen family, were based in the Dubai.
Josh spent time getting to know the family, which consists of couple Will and Gill and their six month old son Luke, while capturing images of them at home as well as in the surrounding desert.
The Janssen family showed Josh their impressive collection of memorabilia, including the Star Wars baby grows for Luke, and chatted about how themes in the films have extended into their family life. Josh was struck with how much the family had used the films as a positive force in their lives, he says that it’s clear that the family firmly believe that ‘in darkness, you’ll always find light’!
Lovely work Josh!
