Over the past year Alice Whitby has been collaborating with The Frome Independent on an exciting project.

The Frome Independent is an award winning street market based on Frome’s high street once a month. The market showcases the best independent craftspeople, designers, makers, food producers and vintage traders in the South West of England and attracts people from all over the country.

Alice has been photographing a selection of the market’s makers in their studios and workspaces, capturing a glimpse behind the scenes at their working processes and what goes into the products people see and love at the market.

Alice says she has had a fantastic experience visiting such a diverse range of makers in and around Frome and it has been a real privilege to see their skilled processes in action!

The project has now come together as a book, ‘In the Making’, is a collaborative project written and produced by The Frome Independent with all photography by Alice, and features portraits and interviews with nineteen makers and food producers.

The book is available to pre-order for £15 via the Frome independent's shop and will be released on the 1st December 2019, just in time for Christmas!
